I approach composing in layers of rhythms and melodic transparencies. I see patterns of colors in my mind's eye when I hear music, so some of my process is actually visual. I am largely influenced by African and afro-diasporal music, which I have been immersed in all of my life. I am also very influenced by my practice of meditation, which I have been at since the age of eleven. Deep listening, from sound to silence and back again, are key to my process. The samples below allow you to hear a few songs that represent different directions. You can hear more samples in the video section.
